THE DENIM MUST-HAVES

There’s no escaping it: summer 2011 will be the season of slim cuts. Baggy cuts are tightening, while carrot jeans keep on playing with volumes¸ both loose and wide at the waist and tapered around the ankles. Using multiple fabrics, notably double stretch and the incredibly stretchy “power fabrics”, slim cuts gain in variety and diversity.

Jeggings (jeans and leggings) are booming and become the season’s must-have. They’ll be grungy with punk-like lacerations, or over-dyed to produce a sky effect, while creepers are shaped after racing leathers. Previously seen in 2010, bib overalls confirm their presence and herald the return of mobile denim straps with skirts and pants.
