LE TEMPS DES CERISES

Spring – Summer 12

Le Temps des Cerises revisits its classics

From American-inspired sportswear to French neo-romantic looks, Le Temps des Cerises introduces a certain femininity borrowed from vintage fashion. Even workwear styles – traditionally very masculine – have taken on an ultra-feminine twist.

Grouped into three lines, the Le Temps des Cerises collections have taken vintage style to the max.

The Cerises line, the very essence of the brand, presents an energizing, vivid range of T-shirts with vintage prints and cotton-canvas chinos and boyshorts in coral, yellow, green and red. This summer, it’s old school, with cotton pique polo shirts in solid colours and stripes, fleece varsity jackets, checked shirts in cotton poplin, and the must-have for any aspiring pom-pom girl: the tank top. The ally of any outfit, sexy and glamorous at the same time, the tank is worn for casual occasions with slim jeans, colourful chinos or faded canvas boyshorts.

In the Vintage line, we find greater serenity and a more romantic inspiration. Skulls show up on Liberty prints, tones are more intense, and gray and pink pastels rub shoulders with blues and greens. Polka dots adorn tops and dresses as a retro-vintage trend, seeming to have taken over the collection and lending a certain nonchalance that recalls the magic of Sundays in the countryside. The bell-bottom continues to make inroads, with a white version for summer. The chambray jacket takes on braids and the Liberty print wanders onto a scarf and a belt to cinch a pair of chinos or slim-fit jeans in eloquent colours.

Launched as a capsule collection, the Heritage line continues to offer secondhand aficionados the most sought-after styles, verging on unique pieces. Workwear in classic blue is available in a naturally worn and faded jacket, a cotton canvas trouser that is worn loose, hangs on the hips and is rolled at the bottom, and an overall that offers a Bermuda twist. The back pocket of one jeans design is torn off, and the buttons are unmatched – a perfect mix of work clothes with natural wear and tear.

Denim trends

Ankle jeans will be the new ally of urban women in search of a feminine but casual look. They reveal the ankles, but not the calves – a charming feature that makes them the perfect match for any outfit. They are available in slim cut 316C or slim cut with wide belt 216C. Introduced last season, the line comprising three wide-belt cuts has expanded with several new fadings, in particular some very light blue and ripped versions, with zippers at the pockets and ankles. These new designs have the advantages of a low waist in front but without any disadvantages in the back, since a wide belt hugs the form, providing ample coverage in the rear and creating the effect of a high-waisted cut.

White appears in slim, straight-legged and even bell-bottom versions, but shades of sky-blue and ultra-light-blue nearing grey-white hold centre stage in these collections. The jeans of summer 2012 will be completely fresh or nothing!

With fresh colours as well as a cascade of hues for the slim classic and slim ankle cut, such as bright pink, canary yellow, royal blue and pine green, red will still stand out above all others, and with a pair of sneakers you’ll be ready to face the pavements in your cleverly combined bright solid colours.

The items in the Vintage line, with fewer details and cleaner lines, will feature a different colour inside: the rolled cotton canvas blue jeans feature acid pink on the reverse.

Jeans or chinos will both finish among the first in this race, but this season chinos will offer sophisticated new colours like mustard, blue-green and pink, all with a Liberty-print scarf doing duty as a belt, and denim boyshorts allow the Liberty-printed pocket bottoms to peek out.
